A closer look at Medicine
Before you decide to spend six years studying medicine, find out what it actually feels like.
Over two weeks at Imperial College London, you'll work alongside practising doctors and surgeons to learn the clinical skills they use every day. You'll use a stethoscope, read an ECG, suture wounds, take on a basic surgery skills course usually reserved for graduate medics, respond to trauma simulations, and explore specialties from paediatrics to psychiatry to emergency medicine. You'll spend a full day in a state-of-the-art NHS clinical teaching facility using equipment and scenarios usually reserved for 4th-year medical students. Every session is delivered by clinicians, not teachers.
Students choose between two tracks: Application (UCAT coaching, personal statement drafting, and mock MMI interviews with experienced medical school interviewers) or Exploration (a clinical research project presented to a panel of external medical professionals). Both tracks conclude with a ProEd certificate and professional feedback that strengthens any university application.

Into the GP Clinic
- Use a stethoscope to listen to heart and lung sounds and identify abnormalities
- Read your first ECG tracing and work through cardiac diagnostic cases
- Practise the systematic patient examination every medical student must learn
- Simulate an acute patient deterioration and make decisions under pressure

The ProEd Field Project
Students choosing the Exploration Track complete the ProEd Field Project, bringing together what they have learned through a clinical project developed with professional guidance.
Your research project
Develop a clinical project around a medical question or challenge. Research the evidence, develop a clear approach, and bring the work together in a written report and final presentation.
How it’s supervised
Work with professional mentors throughout the project, with guidance on developing the case, preparing the written report, rehearsing the presentation, and getting ready for questions from the panel.
Example: Explore a clinical challenge, research the evidence and develop a proposed approach. Present the final project to a panel of external medical professionals and receive individual feedback on the work and presentation.
Learn from industry professionals
Dr Ehsan is a UK-trained medical doctor, clinical researcher, and simulation-trained educator with extensive experience teaching high school students, medical students, and junior doctors.
A graduate of the University of Aberdeen, he specialises in simulation-based medical education, using realistic clinical scenarios to connect medical theory with clinical practice. His teaching covers clinical skills, acute care, communication, and decision-making, giving students practical insight into how clinicians work and think.
Alongside his teaching, Dr Ehsan is a GP Specialty Trainee in NHS Scotland and a Clinical Research Fellow, with research experience spanning acute triage, service optimisation, and AI-supported clinical decision-making. His practical, learner-focused approach encourages students to ask questions, test their thinking, and develop confidence through hands-on experience.
